Treatment Planning FAQs
-
That is great question and the answer is: it really depends. We are happy to work with you to narrow down the options and identify a program that has programs specialized in your particular needs.
-
Yes there are! New Foundations Recovery can help you identify the right program for you or a loved one.

It should be a program that has experience in treating people with similar circumstances (particular substance use/co-occurring disorder)
-
It depends - what's right for one person isn't always right for yourself. New Foundations Recovery can help you determine the right treatment program.
-
Past clients' experiences aren't necessarily reflective or helpful for your individualized situation. Everyone is unique and you or your loved one deserves an equally unique treatment program.

You can start by calling the Admissions Department. We are also happy to reach out to our contacts on your behalf to simplify and expedite the admissions process!

Generally it is helpful to have your insurance card, current address, and drivers license.
-
The treatment admissions process usually consists of an initial screening call, an intake interview conducted over the phone or in-person, insurance verification, payment or financial planning, identifying how you or your loved one will get to treatment, and confirming the admissions intake date.
-
It really depends. It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. A lot of that will be determined by the treatment facilities availability/capacity, the insurance verification process, financial considerations, and individual readiness. At New Foundations Recovery we can help reduce the timeline significantly.
-
It depends. Often times, the treatment facility will do an initial screening at the intake appointment. We can help confirm this with treatment facilities and schedule one on your behalf if needed prior to arrival at treatment.
-
Yes! We can coordinate directly with our national network of contacts to simplify the process and help get you through it quicker.
-
The good news is not much. Generally enough clothes for 1-2 weeks, toiletries, hygiene items, books, approved leisure items, bedding, your wallet, and an open mind. Your loved ones can always mail anything you forget and often times the treatment facility will be able to supply those items as well.
-
It varies significantly. A large determination will be whether the facility accepts your insurance or is out-of-network/private-pay. New Foundations Recovery will work with your family to verify insurance, identify facilities covered by your insurance, and apply to scholarship opportunities when possible. We can also coordinate with treatment facilities to build payment plans that align with your financial ability.
-
Yes and no. Your insurance may cover some facilities completely, or partially, but they may not be ones that are the right fit. New Foundations Recovery can help identify the programs covered by your insurance, determine whether they are good options, and coordinate with treatment facilities that are out-of-network to identify if there are ways to make them more financially feasible.
-
If the treatment program is covered under your insurance then the facility may submit the costs directly to them. If not, you may be able to apply the costs towards an out-of-network deductible or request partial reimbursement. New Foundations Recovery is highly experienced in navigating the insurance process and is here to help with it.
-
Sometimes. We will coordinate with treatment facilities on your behalf to identify the options available and help figure out if it makes sense within your budget.
-
Sometimes they do. Even if the program doesn't have scholarships available there are a number of organizations that provide scholarships for individuals seeking treatment that we can help you apply for.

It depends. Generally, you can start by either talking to your assigned Human Resource's representative, insurance company, or a trusted supervisor if the company is smaller and doesn't have an HR department. The answer really depends on your individual circumstances and we can help you identify the right way to approach the situation.
-
Absolutely not. Attending treatment is a confidential health matter and disclosure of this at work by anyone besides yourself, or without your consent, qualifies as a violation of HIPAA which is federally protected.
-
We are happy to provide safe and supportive Companionship & Transportation for you or a loved one to arrive at treatment safely via a drive or flight. We will answer all questions that come up and provide support along the entire way.
-
Don't panic! This happens all the time. It is a difficult situation and people often are conflicted leading up to entering treatment. New Foundations Recovery is here to provide support and encouragement during the trip to treatment and remind you or a loved one that this is the right decision, and the hardest part is already done.
-
Yes! We are more than happy to do this for you or a loved one (and we love being able to support someone during this time).
-
It depends. New Foundations Recovery can help identify treatment programs' policies regarding refunds prior to selecting the right program , and help your family decide whether the policy is something you are comfortable with. It is unlikely you will be refunded for time spent at treatment but sometimes you can be refunded for the remaining time so it can be applied towards an alternative treatment program.
-
Yes (usually)! If you have given a treatment program a fair chance and it really just isn't working out then you always have the option to change programs. Refund policies vary though so it's important to have an understanding of the program's policy prior to admission. We are here to help your family understand all of these details before committing to a treatment program.
-
Yes! Once we have a better understanding of your individual circumstances then New Foundations Recovery will identify treatment facilities that are aligned with you or your loved one's needs and offer to start the admissions process with them on your behalf.

New Foundations Recovery never has and never will accept "referral fees" or "bonuses" from treatment facilities. Staying independent is a core principle of ours as we believe this allows us to provide the best possible guidance to you or a loved one. You should always ask the individual or company if they receive any referral fees or bonuses from every treatment program they suggest. You should also always ask for multiple options and why they like each one. You can also ask how many people they place in each of the treatment programs every year. If someone is being pushy and it doesn't feel like a good fit for treatment that is probably a red flag that there is an external incentive at play. New Foundations Recovery is always happy to provide second opinions and independent research on the options you or your family have already been provided elsewhere through a one-time treatment consultation meeting with us. Don't be afraid to ask a referrer why they are suggesting certain options - especially if those options aren't specialized in treating you or your loved one's individual needs, substance, or co-occurring disorder.
